"Introduce a Friend to Legend of the Seeker" Month
I was reading some of the SOS-themed posts here, and many focused on getting more people into LotS. While getting media attention is a great way to do this, there is a simpler way: get at least one friend to watch a few eps of the Seeker with you this month.

Just think, if every Seeker fan got just one person to watch LotS (and that person liked the show), we could double the fanbase!

So that's your challenge this month, fellow Seeker Babies! Beg, bribe, wheedle, do whatever it takes. Now go forth and bring more people into the wonderful world of Legend of the Seeker, and by extension, Save Our Seeker!
Current Mood: determined

I think we need to share conversion methods, especially to the people who say 'but it's just Xena/Hercules all over again!'
Katrinakatrina_splat on June 4th, 2010 05:06 am (UTC)
So guys -- which episode is a good one to show to a skeptical viewer? My favs for Doctor Who are Blink and Midnight, for Firefly it's Shindig or Our Mrs Renolds. Seeker is of course best watched in sequence but the pilot is looong...how do we hook a new viewer?

Also, there's always having 2 sets of the dvds, one to keep and one to have constantly loaned out to people.

I've tried but no one listens to me ;_;

So, yes, conversion methods would be awesome ;)

You have to stress key elements, I think. Such as...
Great actors
Hot people of both sex
Amazing fight scenes

Or you could use blackmail or chocolate. ;)

OK so I convinced my friend to come over and check LOTS out now to decide what episode to watch...they are all sooo good! I'm thinking "Denna" lots of Craig abs in that one ;) lol
rachelskywalker: :-}rachelskywalker on June 4th, 2010 04:40 pm (UTC)
agreed!!! "Denna" was the episode that got me hooked! But I'd probably recommend episodes 1 and 2 beforehand so there's some back story on Richard and Kahlan :)

I've converted 4 ppl thus far! VICTORY! haha.

My "pitch" differed based on the person I was talking to, I just tried to appeal to their personal interests.

Such as... for one person, I knew Craig Horner's hotness would be enough to get her to watch at least one ep (he's her 'type') so I made her promise to watch just the pilot. As soon as Richard showed up sweaty and shirtless on the screen...she was SET.

Another, I talked up the femslash, kickass fight scenes, hot dominatrix chicks in leather, awesome lulziness, and PRETTINESS! Sold!

If a person says they're not into fantasy, tell them they don't need to be to watch this show! Bring up the Richard/Kahlan epic romance! Even I'm not really into the action/adventure fantasy genre, but I ADORE this show!

And if all else fails...BLACKMAIL! That worked for one as well. She went into it kicking and screaming, but now she's addicted and completely devastated about the lack of a 3rd season.

Also, a failsafe method is to make whoever it is promise to watch until 1x08 "Denna" - tell them that if they still don't like the show after that then you won't ever bother them about it again. THEY WILL NEVER SAY IT! By then they'll be hooked and you can do the I-Told-You-So dance! :D

I say that too, watch until episode 8 to give it a real go. If they don't like Denna, then I don't think that anyhting you do will get them to like it. I have a friend who has watched all 44 eps with me, and she claims to not like the show. LOL But she digs the books alright. I don't understand NOT liking this show.

I've hooked about 5 people just telling them about it. It's good I have 2 sets of DVDs!

i've been working on converting friends, but most of them are all "fantasy shows aren't my thing." i've been really stressing the fact that they're not my thing either, but it doesn't seem to make them budge until i mention "hot girls in leather making out." always works like a charm ;) haha.

i'm having a seeker marathon with a friend this weekend, in attempts to convert her (it was a trade off - if she watches seeker, i have to watch her show, sanctuary). i think i'm going to start with season 2 and just go through it in order, then come back to season 1. that's what i did personally when i started watching, and found the first few episodes of season 2 FAR superior to the first few eps to season 1. i was hooked almost instantly. but that's all in preference of course :)
aceofhadeon: empireaceofhadeon on June 4th, 2010 03:00 pm (UTC)
I gotta agree on watching S2. 2x1 gives a good recap of the last season, and it explains what will be happening in the rest of the season. Also it has shirtless Darken and Richard with facial fur. <3

I'm working on converting my two best friends. I don't know if they would love it like I do, but I know that they would enjoy it because they do love fantasy and these stuff :)
The problem is that both of them don't really have time right now... But I won't give up! :D

In the meantime, a friend asked me about the show because someone has told her about it, so of course I told her she should watch! She really loves it ^^
shatteredonesshatteredones on June 4th, 2010 12:02 pm (UTC)
I converted three of my friends who really love the show now, even though I had a hard time making them start. This is probably the solution yes.
thisisagift: cara exthisisagift on June 4th, 2010 12:17 pm (UTC)
Me and a friend have converted each other to different shows (I love farscape cos of her XD) And ive converted her to being human and the mentalist.
She says she watched them because 'they had be good if we kept going on about them all the time'
I'll see if i can pester her, or drop it into conversation, but nothings worked so far, after like, a year...
jane_doh1jane_doh1 on June 4th, 2010 12:25 pm (UTC)
@karanna1....great manipulation skills. I applaud you!
My current success rate: 9/10.
And the 10th one is now saying she might reconsider as she is feeling left out when we start talking about it at work...
And all of these people had NEVER even heard of the show.

DVD will be out on loan again in 3 days...hopefully that will start a new group off.

Ooh, yes, the "clique" approach works well too. Peer pressure!

I converted my cousins when we were on vacation, ha, and we all had a Seeker marathon on Christmas eve, it was awesome xD

And I absolutely need to talk to people about the show in school and I.. make my friends watch it and then they totally get hooked! Show them really hot pictures of Craig/Bridget/Tab and they are *sold* :D And interviews! The chemistry between B/C!
oicaxf on June 4th, 2010 03:03 pm (UTC)
My friends love Richard and Kahlan love story and....OF COURSE...Richard's abs LOL
There are love, action, adventura, friendship, hot guys....
Riarialovescake on June 4th, 2010 04:22 pm (UTC)
I've been trying to convert everyone I know to watch LotS for months. No joke. And eventually if you talk about something enough, people will sometimes give in and watch it. I had that happen with a few people on my flist, said they started watching it because I kept going on and on about it.

I actually hooked another friend on it through the books. He always asks me for book recs, so I told him that he should read these new books that this awesome show is based on. Then he got hooked on the books and then the show.

My newest method though is compromise. I promised someone on my flist that I would watch a show she liked if she watched LotS. That way they're getting something in return also!

Compromise/blackmail is definitely the most effective approach for the stubborn ones!! haha ;)

I'm working on converting. I've turned organgrinder_x into another fangirl for both Richard and Darken :D
There are quite a few fantasy and book lovers at school. I'm going on a talking spree once we go back to school. I'm a gemini so, Have mouth, will gab!
aceofhadeon: smile darkenaceofhadeon on June 5th, 2010 02:48 am (UTC)
Well done! And we certainly do need more Darken fans, so double props to you!

Yup, getting the word out about the Seeker is one of the best things we can do. See if you can host a seeker marathon or something after school. :)
Adiadi_dion on June 6th, 2010 10:17 pm (UTC)
Oh yeah! Success! My two best friend still didn't watch it but I talked A LOT about it with another friend and today she finally saw the first episode and loved it :D
I was like- YEAH I can finally talk to someone I know about LOTS!!!!!! lol
I have a few more people who I believe will love it so I'm working on that too :)
aceofhadeon: smile darkenaceofhadeon on June 6th, 2010 10:33 pm (UTC)
Ooraah! Keep up the good work!

I have introduced 2 people in to the show and one onto reading the books. Which 2 different people got me into reading. We have Legend parties to watch the new episodes and just recently to watch Reverent and Mirror and others on Netflix! Save our Seeker!
